Terminal 3 of Shenzhen Bao 'an International Airport was officially put into use on November 28, 2013. At the same time, the original Terminal A, Terminal B and the international terminal were decommissioned. To help passengers reduce travel confusion, the Shenzhen Municipal Government has adopted various methods to familiarize passengers with the new terminal building. Among them, it has exclusively collaborated with Tencent Street View Maps to collect and produce street views of the airport roads and the interior of the terminal building.




The "newness" is reflected in three aspects: First, the structural concept is "new". The shape is like a "flying fish", and the five concave areas of the main finger corridor make the entire steel roof appear dynamic and not dull. Second, the construction concept is "new". In terms of steel structure supports, whether it is the size of spherical plain bearings or the scale of application, it is unrivaled both at home and abroad. Thirdly, the construction technology is "new". The innovation in the construction process of the V-shaped columns and the constricted steel tension beams in the central finger corridor area ensures that the entire structure is evenly stressed during the installation process and after unloading, without obvious stress and strain concentration.

The "quantity" is reflected in the fact that there are as many as 260,000 members, the components vary in length and wall thickness, the nodes are complex and changeable, the bending curvatures of the components are different, the entire free-form surface is complex and changeable, and the spatial irregular shapes are complex and changeable.


The "difficulty" is also reflected in three aspects: First, free-form surfaces, complex nodes and the number of components bring great difficulty to the detailed design and construction; Second, the type of reinforced truss components is mostly thick-walled small square tubes with internal partitions. During the manufacturing process of such components, there are also many construction difficulties in terms of correction, stress relief, and ensuring full penetration of welds. In addition, the difficulty also lies in the cross-construction in terms of space and process with construction units such as civil engineering, curtain walls, subways, elevated Bridges, and GTC in the organization of super-large steel structure construction. The numerous and widespread points of cross-construction bring great difficulty to coordination and communication in steel structure construction.


Entering the terminal building, I arrived at the passenger waiting hall located in the central concourse. As soon as you enter the terminal building, the first thing you feel is the magnificent and imposing atmosphere of Terminal 3. Shenzhen Airport will install automatic pedestrian conveyor belts inside the building to save passengers' energy.
